• During this visit, you should work with one or more groups of students if you haven't already, and observe your teacher doing the same. For this journal entry, describe your teacher's teaching style. What type of relationships with students does he or she nurture in his or her classes? How do students perceive that power is distributed in the classes? Does this vary within or across the different classes the teacher has? Cite examples from your observations to support your inferences. Remember to reflect on what style of teaching you will gravitate toward and the how you want to be perceived by your students.

My observations of my CT I have noticed that she is very relaxed and at ease with the students. She jokes around with them and allows them to joke around. When they seem to be getting out of hand she redirects them and reminds them of what needs to be done. The students also seem to be relaxed but also respectful. They ask questions and seem to be enjoying the class, well most of the time. The students seem to understand that she is in charge but also that they do have some control over how the class is structured. They know that if they follow the rules then they are given a little bit of freedom but also understand that if they take advantage of that, she will take that freedom away. This freedom does vary from class to class. She has mentioned to me that in some classes she does not joke around as much because the class gets to riled up and they are extremely hard to get them back on task She still jokes around but not as much and the class is much more structured. A prime example of this, is when she was explaining the motion of atoms in solids, liquids, and gases. She compared them to students at a dance. She demonstrated the following . Atoms in a solid move like those students who just stand against the wall and kinda bob to the music, atoms in a liquid like those students who are smooth dancers, and atoms in a gas move like those students who are spastic on the dance floor. One class she had all the students participate, in another she picked 3 volunteers, and in another class she demonstrated each movement alone. I feel I would like to be perceived the way my CT is. As a fun an approachable teacher with clear expectations. Also as someone who expects students to follow the rules and be able to control themselves and to get down to business when its time to.
